As much as I like to think I enjoy designing/building websites – the fact is, it’s not really a passion (or strength) of mine. It’s everything that comes after the site is created that get’s me going!
So, rather than beating my head against the wall trying to create killer WordPress tutorials, I’ve decided it makes way more sense to find some created by seriously talented people who are not only great at building/designing websites, but who are also excellent teachers.
One such person is Tyler Moore. This guy’s WordPress website building tutorials on YouTube are absolutely phenomenal! Far better in fact, that a lot of paid course materials I’ve come across over the years.
And he teaches exactly what most people are actually after – how to build a real website, from start to finish, step by step (with no step skipped).
What’s hilarious is that my friend Michelle MacDonald was one of the winners of a contest that Tyler held, and she got a free website out of it. Not only that, but – as per usual – he built the whole thing on camera, step-by-step, and uploaded it to YouTube.
WARNING: Tyler’s videos tend to be really long – and the one showing how he created Michelle’s site might just be the longest one he has (lol)! But keep in mind he is creating a full-fledged e-commerce site from scratch. It is like combining 30 different lessons into a single training.
Now obviously, I am in no way suggesting that you create a website exactly like Michelle’s (don’t think she would be too happy with me if that happened! LOL). The idea is to see what tools Tyler is using (and how he is using them) so you can create your own unique site.
If you have not yet created your own website, and you are looking for something fairly simple (yet powerful) – I HIGHLY recommend you watch the next video. In this one, Tyler creates what could end up as a fantastic small business website using the free “Responsive” WordPress theme. As the name implies, this theme is mobile responsive (will look great even on smaller devices) – something that is becoming more and more important.
It is also only about half the length of the previous video!
If you want to see some of the other great videos Tyler has created, I highly recommend you check out his YouTube channel.
